In order to begin your barbering career you must first find a school. Georgia has a number of beauty and cosmetology schools that offer barbering programs. A quick online search returns several online directories that list institutions that have barbering certification courses. In order to receive a license, one must complete a barbering program at an accredited GA school and pass a written and practical exam. Also, in order to take the final exam, you must have a minimum of 1,500 hours of training. If you would rather not go to school to become a barber than you can also serve as an apprentice in a shop. This requires the student to undertake 3,000 hours of training before they can attempt the licensing exam. The students hours will be logged weekly by the master barber and the shop owner.
